Policies and rate

Payment and fees

Payment is due at the time of session. Payment will be collected through a secure patient portal via simple practice. I can accept all major credit/debit cards in addition to HSA/FSA accounts.

Initial Session (2 hours) $300.00

Individual Psychotherapy (60 minute session) $175.00

Longer “block” sessions are available by request

Cancellation/Rescheduling policy

A minimum of 48 hours is required for cancellation. If a cancellation is made within 48 hours the full session fee will be charged. This is because your session time is reserved only for you. Of course occasional emergencies happen, in which case the fee will be waived. For Monday sessions this notice will need to be given by Friday at 5pm.

If you need to reschedule your appointment and provide adequate notice I will do my best to see you within the same week, although this may not always be possible.

Sliding scale fees

While I am unable to offer sliding scale fees across my entire practice I do offer a scholarship slot that is at a reduced fee for a time limited period of 3 months (apprx 12 sessions). Please contact me if this would be a good fit for you, and are in need of a significantly reduced fee.

Insurance participation

At this time I am not participating in any major insurance programs.

I am an out of network provider which means I can provide you with a monthly invoice to submit to your insurance, which typically provides partial reimbursement for services. Please call the number on the back of your insurance card to verify out of network benefits.

Why I do not take insurance

This question is completely understandable and important to address

  1. This enables you to control your care, including choosing your therapist and the length of treatment

  2. Increased privacy and confidentiality (except for limits of confidentiality) as your information stays with me

  3. Not having a mental health diagnosis on your medical record

  4. Freedom in discussing the issues important to you that may not be a “billable” psychiatric issue through the lens of insurance providers

Client forms and consent

After our initial phone consult, if we decide to work together, your contact information will be uploaded into Simple Practice which is the HIPPAA compliant telehealth service I use. From there I will send you an informed consent for treatment.

Consent to record sessions

In addition to the standard informed consent, you will receive a consent for me to video record our session. As a student at the Washington School of Psychiatry I am encouraged to record as much of my work as possible so that I can be guided precisely by my supervisors.

This is a post graduate program beyond my master’s level training and licensure. I am a forever student and therapist who is dedicated to my craft. It is important to receive feedback about my work, which will ultimately help you as my client, however you are not required to approve the recording of sessions to be a client of mine.
